Through Grief-Colored Glasses
A Life Reinvented by Devastating Loss

How Do You Overcome Grief After Losing Those Closest to You?

Many people have asked Vicky Edgerly that question. Having lost her son and husband to suicide and her daughter to cancer, few believed she would be able to go on—but she has.

In this riveting memoir, Vicky pulls the reader directly into her incredible story of life after devastating loss. Covering a ten-year period in which Vicky lost the three most important people in her life, Through Grief-Colored Glasses masterfully weaves the tale of her transformation from her first moments as a mother broken by grief to a strong, independent woman who has survived heart-breaking trauma and now has a powerful message to share with the world.

You’ll get a candid and intimate look into Vicky’s thought processes as she tried to make sense of her teenage son’s suicide. Finding no real help from her community, she became a trailblazer in her complex grief journey. Her efforts to understand grief increased as cancer claimed her daughter’s life and her husband killed himself. Now she shares the simple yet powerful tools that changed her grief experience from a heavy burden to a sacred honor. Vicky even includes the heartfelt letters of love and letting go she wrote to each loved one.

As incredible as it sounds, Vicky discovered how beautiful and fulfilling life can be once we learn to see through grief-colored glasses. This book is a message of hope for all of us.

Vicky's Mission

Walking Beside You: Grief Guidance from One Who's Overcome.

Where Did it Come From?

Vicky Edgerly, author of Dragonfly Wisdom, developed this comprehensive program after spending over a decade studying the effects acute and/or prolonged Grief can have on an individual or family unit. Her passion for this work surfaced after her 18 year old son took his own life on Mother’s Day in 2002 when, after seeking solace within a local grief support group she discovered a ‘blind-leading-the-blind’ process that left her feeling hopeless inside. She believed there was a better way and she vowed to find it.

Vicky went on to experience the death of her daughter, her only remaining child from cancer as well as her husband a few years later, also a suicide. Throughout all the grief and pain, she vowed to find a way through, eventually sharing her story and the methods she used to self-heal with the world in her first book, Through Grief-Colored glasses.

As the founder of White Elephant Wisdom, Vicky's mission is to offer a sanctuary for those navigating the turbulent waters of grief. She provides a collection of literary works and services that serve as companions in one's darkest moments, offering solace and understanding. Through her personal story of triumph and renewal after experiencing multiple tragic losses, she cultivates hope, connection, and healing for others. Sharing her journey is her way of inspiring those who may be facing their own challenges to find light in the darkness.

In addition, she is committed to building a community that nurtures and supports those experiencing grief. Through her holistic 2-phase grief support system, Dragonfly Wisdom (DFW), she aims to illuminate the path for those lost in sorrow, offering a safe haven for deep healing. She invites curious souls to explore how their grief can foster a stronger connection to their inner selves and the spiritual realm. Together, in community, she creates a space where understanding and compassion pave the way for renewal and hope.
